Arctik ® salmon is named after the glacial arctic waters where this sustainable & natural salmon is raised to perfection in the Northern most waters near the arctic circle.

The small "nordic" villages have been living from these waters for hundreds of years, and have a respect for the water that has given them so much over the generations. Its this care for the ocean, its fish, and habitat that leads these water farmers to put quality before quantity. Small independently owned farms and surrounding area are basically untouched from modern time, visiting these remote areas is like taking a step back in time. With its slow pace of life, focus on the surrounding waters and its bounties, and its community.

Arctik salmon is widely considered “the” salmon that other farmed salmons ARE measured against. Sustainably raised in the wild open ocean waters off the arctic circle and the lands rugged coastline. It’s this unique environment which give this fish its firm texture, lean flesh, and buttery sweet flavor that chefs around the world have come to demand. Every stage of the salmon’s life cycle is carefully monitored and evaluated to ensure environmental stewardship and quality of life. The clean wild waters are far from modern day and considered to be some of the cleanest environments that leads to Arctik salmons purity.

 

LOCATION

Arctic Circle - Where the North Atlantic, North Sea & Norwegian Sea meet. These are frigid, rich, and pristine waters with abundant sea-life & nutrients with water temps just above freezing.

Extreme open ocean currents & deep water at sites, are not only key for the environment but as importantly keep the salmon fit & healthy as well as a healthy seafloor. Together this makes the most ideal environment for the fish & the health of the surrounding environment when compared to other "higher intensity" and closer to shore farms.

 

SUSTAINABILITY

Ultra low stocking densities of aquaculture sites, as low as 98.5% WATER TO 1.5% FISH.                      

Aquaculture sites incorporate the use of LUMPSUCKER FISH, which are used to symbiotically live with the salmon & control sea lice , instead of using chemical treatments.

ECO-NET PENS introduced to prevent escapes due to the high seas, high currents, & predators due to the remoteness of these sites. Also these innovative pens help to prevent escapes and eliminate use of chemical anti-foulants as compared to traditional used net pens.

Marine fish meal & oil is sourced firstly from sustainable managed fisheries unused fish trimmings from fish caught for human consumption, thus taking what would have been a "waste" into a new net protein. This not only makes a "zero in, zero out" sustainable approach but takes the fishing pressure off vital wild feeder fish stocks.

ZERO WASTE policy ensures environmental footprint is constantly minimized. There is no portion of the fish that is wasted. All off cuts that are not used for our perfect portions are used to make "human grade" high quality pet food.

 

Fish guts can be sold as fertilizer for land farmers, and any fish waste can be processed into vital fish oil that can be used in supplements. All fish are harvested to order so no fish goes unused or wasted.
